Nothing beats the smell of freshly baked bread…

The ANSA newswire tells me its National Bread Day in Italy today. I’m totally down with that; I love the smell of freshly baked bread almost as much as I like eating it. I think my favorite Italian bread would have to be the Ciabatta which in Italian, means “slipper”. The bread is crusty on the outside and somewhat soft on the inside – just how I like my bread!

freshly baked bread

My mom used to make bread all the time when we were younger and I used to be her little helper. The best part was taste testing the freshly baked bread straight out of the oven!  I have yet to attempt to make bread in my adult life though, maybe its time I gave it a whirl!

What is your favourite type of bread?

Leanne – I can’t get over how small this world is sometimes. I find it so amazing when someone has heard of my dad’s town because it’s barely on the map!! 🙂 Where is your boyfriend from? Marzi? Rogliano?

My boyfriend has heard of your dad’s village – his village is not so far from there and he has passed by before on route to some other place. He used to go to eat pizza in pittarella which is close by your village!
