Happy Canada Day!

This year, Canada’s national day fell on a Tuesday so for many (myself included) it’s an extended long weekend. Yay!!

I kicked off the long weekend with the Canada Dry Festival of Fire. The Festival of Fire takes place over four nights at Ontario Place and showcases a handful of countries as they put on amazing fireworks displays choreographed to the music of each individual country. It’s a ticketed event but if you are lucky enough to have access to a boat you can sail or motor yourself up to the barge, anchored in the harbor of Lake Ontario, housing the fireworks and get a unique view of the fireworks. On Saturday, I lucked out when my mom had two free guest spots for a boat she was taking out from her sailing club to see the fireworks show.

The fireworks were spectacular. This wasn’t the first time I’d been privileged enough to catch the fireworks from the water and to be honest I really don’t think there is a better view. The fireworks are set against the backdrop of the city skyline. It’s beautiful.

So, for all my Canadian readers I hope you are enjoying the first official long weekend of the summer!
