I have a weakness and its name is chocolate. If the same goes for you and you happen to be in Italy from October 18-26, then you might just want to check out the 14th annual Eurochocolate Festival. Every year the beautiful city of Perugia in Umbria hosts this delectable event that brings together chocolate lovers from all over Italy and the world. This year the theme for Eurochocolate is “Play Chocolate“. Chocoholics can look forward to many things at this festival including chocolate exhibits, chocolate sculptures, chocolate tastings, entertainment, and much more. The legendary, Toblerone, is celebrating its 100th anniversary at Eurochocolate and for this very special occasion, they will be producing a huge Toblerone weighing in at 100 kg (220 lbs). Whoa! That’s a lot of chocolate!

I cheated and tagged you after Piccola tagged me, so it’s a double tag for the same tag if that makes sense!

My daughter spent all of August and July in Perugia and she said she did’nt see one ‘Bacio’ !

Seems like it was the wrong time to go!

I bet you she’d find a “Bacio” in Perugia this week!! 😛

I like the way in Italy chocolate, like every other kind of food is seasonal. Has anyone else noticed how you can hardly buy it during the summer? In the UK shops just put it in the cool cabinet during the warmer months. Here there’s a time and a place for everything, that’s how they manage to stay in such good shape!

I was in Italy this summer and now that I think of it…I don’t recall seeing many chocolate products other than chocolate gelato or nutella. Hmmmm you may be on to something here!?!

I have to quibble with your calling white chocolate a food group – it is actually a type of cardboard, I believe. Other than that, I’m with you 100%! The chocolate festival sounds like a visit to paradise.

You are right…white chocolate isn’t really chocolate but it’s still pretty yummy…I call it the “adopted” chocolate!! 🙂 A friend of mine in Roma is going to the festival…I’m so utterly jealous!

OMG, I love chocolate too. When I go on job interviews and they ask me what my weakness is, I always say chocolate. I love every type of chocolate but since they declared dark chocolate healthy, I’ve been eating more of that kind. It’s probably a good thing that an ocean separates me from that festival because it would be utter gluttony, and my Italian half would be chasing me around calling me, “golosa”. I am damn it, I admit it! Chocoholics unite!

How does that go over in interviews? I’m sure it gets a giggle! I love chocolate…but I’m good about not over indulging. However, a festival like that could make it difficult not to go overboard! 🙂
