My Top 5: Italian Male Singers

I love music and I’ve grown up listening to a lot of Italian music. Some people choose to listen to music to help them learn a language. If you are interested in listening to some Italian music, then why not check out these Italian Male Singers. Here are my Top 5:

Italian Male Singer

1.  Eros Ramazzotti

Even if you aren’t an avid listener of Italian music, chances are you know who Eros Ramazzotti is. He has released numerous albums and has been a staple in the Italian music scene since 1984. His albums have been released worldwide and he has done duets with many talented and well-known artists such as Luciano Pavarotti, Cher, Andrea Bocelli, Laura Pausini and more recently Ricky Martin.

Check out these songs by Eros Ramazzotti:
“I Belong To You” featuring Anastacia
“Non Siamo Soli” featuring Ricky Martin
“L’Aurora”

2. Tiziano Ferro

Although Tiziano is a relatively “new” artist to the Itailan music scene, his popularity has grown exponentially.  In 1997, he was a participant in the San Remo Music Festival however didn’t make it into the finals.  He returned in 1998, and this time became one of the 12 finalists. It was there that he was discovered and in 2002, released his debut album entitled “Rosso Relativo”.   The albums first single “Perdono” blew up on the Italian music charts and led him to release a Spanish version of his debut album called “Rojo Relativo” increasing his popularity in South America.  In 2006, he released “Nessuno è solo” which debuted at #1 on the Italian charts and featured songs used in the popular Italian film “Ho Voglia Di Te”.

Check out these songs by Tiziano Ferro:
“Ti Scattero Una Foto”
“Perdono”

Italian Male Singer

3.  Fabrizio Moro

Fabrizio has been in and around the music scene since 2000 when he released his first album.  However, it wasn’t until 2007 when his song “Pensa” dedicated to vicitms of the mafia won the “youth” category at the San Remo Music Festival that Fabrizio Moro catapulted into super stardom.  In 2008, he released “Domani” and is expected to release a new album later this month.  With his unique style and incredibly powerful lyrics, there is no question that his star will continue to climb.

Check out these songs by Fabrizio Moro:
“Pensa”
“Libero”

4.  Daniele Battaglia

Before making his official debut as a singer in 2007, Daniele worked in a small radio station in Bologna and also as a writer, producer and composer with his father’s record label.  Daniele learned a lot about the music industry through his father, Dodi Battaglia, the guitarist for popular Italian group Pooh.  In 2007, Daniele stepped out as a singer with a duet featuring Brenda entitled “Vorrei dirti che è facile”.  They tried to get it into the San Remo Music Festival, but it didn’t make it.  Later that year, Daniele released “Tutto Il Mare Che Vorrei” his debut album and in 2008, he returned to San Remo with his song “Voce Nel Vento”.  He was eliminated early on in the competition but it is certain he will be back as he continues to release music, build a growing fan base and tour all over Italy.

Check out these songs by Daniele Battaglia:
“Tutta Ma Nessuno”
“Voce Nel Vento”

5.  Nek

Nek, born Filippo Neviani, is a popular Italian singer-songwriter who like Tiziano Ferro has recorded and released albums in Italian and Spanish.  He released his first solo album in 1992 and participated in the San Remo Music Festival with his song “Laura Non C’e'”. He has released numerous albums over the past decade and shows no signs of retiring.  Also, he is releasing his 10th studio album later this month.

Check out these songs by Nek:
“Laura Non C’e'”
“Sei Solo Tu” featuring Laura Pausini
“La Vita E'”

There was one singer I recently discovered, and I can’t find him. Young man, tall, blonde. Last name I think starts with a B (buono, bueno, something like that).

    Can anyone help me out?

Could it be Matteo Becucci (www.myspace.com/matteobecucci) ?? Do you know the name of the song? or some lyrics within the song?

I agree than the above singers are the best that Italian music scene has, but I stronlgy disagree about the songs of Gigi D’Alessio. It has a great voice, numerous fans in Italy and for his kind I think is the best.
Certainly his songs doesn’t seem the same, and the lyrics (if you know italian language are poetry)
Finally the duets that has done with International artists (such as Lara Fabian) indicate his quality as an artist.

Yaaaaaay!! Tiziano Ferro! I only listened to a couple of songs and I’m currently using his songs to learn Italian. More interesting than classes and economics haha!!

And eros has been a personal favorite of mine since like forever!!

Great post! Will check out the other singers!!

Lulu, I honestly don’t remember because I don’t even know any of Nek’s songs. Or maybe I do but can’t tell him apart from all the other Italian male singers. It was about 2.5 years ago, so whatever was popular in 2006?

Saw Tiziano in concert a while back…I used to like him a lot more…but he’s still alright. Eros is just a classic…he’ll always be great. I also used to like Nek a lot more, but not so much…I really love Mario Venuti, Mango, Zucchero, Max Pezzali (from 883), Alex Britti, Raf, Biagio Antonacci, Piero Pelù and Paolo Valessi…oops, more than 5!! 🙂 But they just all have great voices and sing different styles. And I agree, Gigi is a little cheese ball plus all his songs sound the same!! 🙂

Oh one other funny thing, a few years ago when I was still teaching English, I had a group of 10 year olds and when we were learning body parts and got to the word “neck” they would always break out into a Nek song. At the time I had no idea what they were doing, so had to look him up, but it was quite funny.

Too funny!!! That made me giggle! 😛 You must have been SO confused!!! haha Do you remember what song they would break into? or did they change it up on you? 😀

Haha Tiziano Ferro always reminds me of when I studied in Padova because his song Perdono was exploding at the time and was everywhere. I also must say I loved his song Stop! Dimentica off his latest album, which was popular here a few years ago. I generally am not a fan of contemporary Italian music (besides the group Subsonica), but am a closet fan of his.

Jessica, I think you just came out of the closet 😛 I will eventually do my Top 5 Italian Music Groups…I’m following more of the contemporary Italian music stuff now since I’ve already been exposed to all the older stuff through my dad! 🙂 It’s like a whole new musical world out there! LOL

Don’t really like Tiziano…but the teenagers just love him. Thank god Gigi D’Alessio or whatever his name is not on the list. Really cannot stand him.
I like Eros…also Ligabue he is great.

My dad got me front row center tickets to see Eros. It was sooooo long ago but the best concert ever!! 🙂 I like Tiziano’s newer stuff….his “Nessuno è solo” is constantly in my player! 🙂 Gigi is a bit too cheese ball even for me 😛
