Sanremo Festival Della Canzone Italiana

sanremo music festival

If you are a fan of Italian music and Italian artists, like I am, then you’ve probably heard of a little thing called the Sanremo Music Festival or Festival Della Canzone Italiana.  The festival, which has been running since 1951, has featured some of Italy’s most talented artists.  It has also been the stepping stone for many new artists, catapulting them into the spotlight.  Artists such as Tiziano Ferro, Fabrizio Moro, Laura Pausini, Giorgia, and many others found their “big break” at this event.

The 60th edition of the Sanremo Music Festival will run from February 16-20th and feature 15 Italian artists competing for top prize and 10 newcomers in competition for in New Generation or Nuova Generazione category.

This is the one time of year I really wish I had RAI!

I don’t think I could live without RAI. I can’t watch calcio with english commentary, it drives me nuts!

I want to learn more about Italian music and artists. Do you know where I can listen online to Italian music? We tried one day but could only find orchestra types.

Many Italian radio stations have live steaming online. Here is one site that has a good list of stations from all over Italy ~ http://www.listenlive.eu/italy.html

I love the festival di Sanremo! So many amazing songs have come out of there over the years.

I know! It’s always interesting to see what songs compete in Sanremo because a lot of the time there is such a vast range of style, age groups, and talent.

    wow,
I’ve got a lot to learn about Italian musicians.

I’ve always had my staple artists that I always listened to (Nek, Eros, Laura Pausini, etc) but recently I’ve been discovering new talent and there are some good ones out there. I did a post listing my top 5 italian female artists, which I may have to update or update! 🙂
