I’m back…

I’ve learned the hard way that it is so incredibly easy to go to Italy…but leaving it is brutto! Not a single moment of the day goes by that I don’t think about Italy. I miss it so much.

My trip was pretty much everything I hoped it would be. I was able to reconnect with my family. I was able to communicate with my nonna in a way that she could understand me and I her – which made us both very happy. I was blessed to meet some truly amazing and wonderful people who I now call friends. I fell in love with Carpanzano all over again. It embraced me like an old friend with arms wide open and it opened my eyes to so much that I had let slip away from me. I come back changed, in a good way. Before I left I wasn’t sure what I wanted or where my life was headed but now that I am back I have more of a focus and drive towards something again.

A few days before I returned to Toronto, I made sure to have some alone time with this beautiful place. I went for a walk through the town taking in as much of it as I possibly could and assuring the town (and myself) that I would be back soon…promise!

I still stand by the notion that you haven’t truly seen Italy until you’ve seen it through a small town like this one.

Glad to hear your trip was so lovely. Hope to see more photos.

It was hard for me to leave as well. I ended up moving. ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks!! I will post more pictures in upcoming posts…although I didn’t end up taking as many pictures as I thought I would. ๐Ÿ™‚ I am working at getting my citizenship (hopefully soon its taking forever) and from there I will see….but I’m definitely leaning towards moving to Italy…even if its just for a short period of time.

So you are planning the next trip back! I hope it all goes well and I will definately be seeing you over here the next time. Love all the photo’s too…it looks like such a beautiful little town. I got a glimps of it across the valley when I was on my friends balcony as Malito and your village face each other! A presto.

I am hoping/planning to be back within the next 6-12 months. Once things are more official I will let you know…I have to see you next time I’m in Italy! ๐Ÿ™‚ Right outside of the house I was staying in there is a little stradella and from there I could see Malito. I love how small the world can be sometimes!! ๐Ÿ™‚

I love your photos, more please. I have to agree with the lonliness part. I remember when I went to Sicily to Termini Imerese, the beaches are even lonely in September.

Small sleepy towns are the origin of many Italians who for various economical reseasons have moved to the bigger cities. I like them best too.
I’ve just noticed that you and my husband shares the same nickname!

Definitely…Carpanzano was bursting with people who were visiting from the bigger cities – Milan, Rome, and other places in between. They come down for the month of August to visit family and friends – it’s almost like going to the cottage ๐Ÿ˜› The town is VERY different when September rolls around…the night walks become a bit more lonely.

By the way, I thought of you while you were gone. While my Ale was here we went to the Italian Festa here in Portland and they played the song “Calabrisella Mia” ๐Ÿ™‚

Awww, how cute! ๐Ÿ™‚ It wouldn’t be an Italian Festa if you didn’t hear that song! I heard it a couple times while I was in Italy and it made me giggle! ๐Ÿ™‚
