Buon Compleanno
It takes a long time to grow young. – Pablo Picasso
Today is my birthday, not just any birthday, but my 30th birthday. I’m leaving my 20s behind and embarking on a whole new set of numbers. I’m okay with it though. While many are crying about getting older; I’m embracing it because my 20s were something to be forgotten for the most part. Besides, I’m told you really find yourself in your 30s and I’m so ready for that to happen!
So instead of a whole spiel about getting older and whatnot, I figured I would do something fun.
You ready?
Here we go…
What Happened in 1978?
~ Garfield made his comic strip debut in June… Odie followed making his first appearance in the comic strip in August.
~ In October, Cardinal Karol Wojtyla becomes Pope John Paul II and makes history as the first Polish pope.
~ Diff’rent Strokes premieres on NBC in November.
~ A renovated Hollywood sign is unveiled in November, replacing the older version that was built in 1923.
~ Top films of the year included: Grease, Superman, Jaws II, and The Deer Hunter
~ Other cool people were born including Gianluigi Buffon, Kobe Bryant (who speaks Italian fluently might I add), Eve (same day as me), and Nelly Furtado.
Now, come on 30s, show me what you got!

November 11, 2008 at 6:43 amHappy birthday! I can only echo the words of the lovely ladies above me and reiterate that the 30s have been my best decade so far. I trust yours will be as well. The 40s have a good reputation too. It’s downhill only after the dreaded 5-0.
Thanks, I hope my 30s end up being better than my 20s! 🙂

November 11, 2008 at 1:56 amBuon Compleanno! I’m a few years into my 30’s things have been great for the most part, but I think the best is yet to come! Maybe sooner than later. I’m sure you will have a blast in your 30’s. Getting your Italian citizenship will be the start to many wonderful things for you, I’m sure of it!
Thank you!! 🙂 I believe that getting my citizenship will definitely be the new start I need!!

We need bloggers to help get the word out. Please email our director at barrett[at]mochaclub[dot]org if you would be interested in hearing the details!

November 10, 2008 at 10:14 amHappy Birthday! You are still young. My thirties were my best years.
Someone who’s old can remember the seeing the movies you mentioned when they came out (yours truly)…
Thanks! 🙂 I have had many women in their 30s tell me that their 30s were by far the best. My teens were great, my 20s were brutal, I really am looking forward to seeing what my 30s have to offer.
