Happy 13th Blogiversary, Calabrisella Mia

And here we are celebrating another blogiversary!

13 years ago, I started a little journal on the web. I find it hard to comprehend sometimes how much time has passed and how this little diary has evolved. It has become my faithful companion through so many life experiences.

I truly believe we are made up of moments, places we’ve visited, and people we’ve encountered. And this blog, this little corner on the web has not only given me a space to share my thoughts and experiences, but it has also opened my world up to so many new places and new encounters.

Throughout this past year, with all of the restrictions due to the pandemic, this blog has once again been a place to escape to – a place to relive heartwarming moments or share new stories and ideas.

And as time passes, I realize more and more how much I love storytelling. We all have an epic story to tell, we just need to find our voice. Calabrisella Mia is so much more than a blog. It is my life, my voice – it is my story.

I look back on where I started and where I am now, and I can’t help but be grateful for all this blog has given me and continues to give me even today.

LIVE FOR EXPERIENCES NOT POSSESSIONS!

When you really break it down, life is essentially a series of experiences stringed together. To truly live life to its fullest, you have to keep yourself open.

I have been blessed with so many incredible experiences thanks to my blog. Putting yourself out there opens you up to meeting new people and connecting with others. Having a blog and the social media channels connected to it has brought so many interesting people and unique experiences into my life.

Thanks to the blog, I have that extra push to step out of my comfort zone and try new things. Take, for instance, my recent trip to Chianalea in Scilla earlier this year. It was my first real solo trip.

It was also one of the best days I’d had in a long time. Sitting on the boardwalk overlooking the sea and Sicilia in the distance was so energizing. Taking this trip alone gave me a boost of confidence and ignited a fire in me to do more solo travel in the future. There is nothing more liberating than just waking up and deciding to head out and visit somewhere new.

LET NEW PEOPLE IN

I find it painful to see how social distancing has crept its way into our daily life. But as humans, we need and crave connection. The world is made up of so many individuals – each person that we let into our life has something to show us or teach us. The lesson can be something big, life-changing perhaps, or just a quick reminder or nudge towards something grander. Some people teach us about ourselves, about who we are, how we’ve changed, or who we strive to be.

Through my blog, I’ve met so many incredible and inspiring people. In some cases, I have had the pleasure of spending time with them in real life. An interesting conversation about life can turn into an afternoon admiring the whimsical dance of a hot air balloon.

There are also many people I’ve gotten to know virtually – but I’m confident our paths will cross when the time is right, and it will be magical! In fact, I have so many ideas and plans of things I want to do, and it will be so much fun to share these new experiences, not just with them, but with all of you!

LIFE IS ONE BIG, BEAUTIFUL ADVENTURE

I think the most important thing I’ve learned through writing is that life is one epic adventure if we choose it to be. It’s is a series of choices, each choice leading us to the next chapter.

10 years

Life is extraordinary, bursting with oppourtunities and waiting to take us on a magical journey filled with new experiences. It’s up to us to not let the weight of the world hold us down or keep us from living our lives to the fullest. We can never quite know where we are going because life is constantly evolving and shifting us in different directions. So, the best thing to do is just remember to have a little faith, see where the journey takes us, and most importantly, enjoy the view.

My mind is full of wonderful adventures just waiting to unfold! Keep believing, keep dreaming!

Thank you so much to all of you for being a part of my story. You may never know how much your comments, emails, and support mean to me. I hope my blog can give you something, too – whether it’s a bit of joy, an escape, or some inspiration.

Stay tuned amici….

If you want to find out what I’m up to, you can keep up with my daily life and musings over on the Calabrisella Mia Facebook Page and Instagram!

    Congratulazioni!

Keep up the Italian tradition. My parents were from platania and I believe in traditions Christmas Eve is very important to me of course I don’t cook all the foods that they did for that night but I try. I love my nationality and proud how I was raised as a Calabrian

I’m like you…. I’m a firm believer that we need to do what we can to carry on the traditions of our ancestors, as best we can. I’ve definitely been trying to learn more of the traditional recipes.

I enjoyed reading your post. It’s east to get caught up in day to day grind and forget about what really matters in this world.

It’s so true. Then you add the restrictions and limitations during this past year and a half and it’s even harder to just unplug and get refocused. I’m keeping positive that as things open up, we can get back to living life more completely! 🙂
