NaBloPoMo Update

Well, I am over a week into NaBloPoMo and I must admit I’m pretty surprised with how I’ve been doing. It isn’t easy to write something everyday when you aren’t already conditioned to. The past few days it’s been especially difficult to focus, with so many things happening this month (my birthday, the one year anniversary of my father’s passing, and planning my sister’s wedding) my thoughts are on overdrive and yet I’ve still managed a post a day. *pat on the back* To all of you doing NaBloPoMo and NaNoWriMo at the same time, I must give you a standing ovation.

For all the writers out there, where do you find your inspiration to write? How do you decide what you choose to write about everyday? How do you push through “writers block”?

I would love to hear your advice, tips, and tricks.

Good luck to all those NaBloPoMo-ing and NaNoWriMo-ing this month…keep it up!! I will try to do the same!

    Look at EVERYTHING with fresh eyes. Maybe someone could be interested in it!

    I just need to open my eyes a little wider. I am usually very good at finding inspiration in anything and everything. Maybe I just need a little Yoga to clear my head! 🙂 I just don’t want to bore anyone who reads the blog with silly filler entries!

    On my personal blog, there’s always something happening to write about. I have two weekly specials as well, a history article on Mondays and a YouTube music selection on Fridays. I write about books I read, music I listen to, films and TV shows I watch, places I visit, products I love, especially flavours. Imagine someone blogging for a week about breakfast foods? That would be me.

    Here I plan to follow the NaBlo monthly themes, challenge myself to find 30 different angles to look at the same thing. Right now, of course, we have no theme, so I went for a twist on the Shine challenge (it’s a NaBlo group). They give 30 daily themes for November, so I start there and let my mind wander. Sometimes it stays close to the suggestion, other times it roams far and away.

    There’s always the old block-busting trick of loading up Yahoo to see what weirdness is on the front page, or using LiveJournal’s daily question, or just setting your music player to shuffle and winging it from the first song that comes up. It’s all about brainstorming – unPC as the term is considered.

    Very good suggestions. I might give them a try.
