Nutella French Toast Rolls ~ World Nutella Day 2021
It’s World Nutella Day and you can bet I’ve prepared something special to celebrate.
As I mentioned in last year’s Nutella Day post, Ferrero is really creative when it comes to their marketing and advertising campaigns. At the end of 2020, the makers of Nutella teamed up with the Italian National Tourist Board (ENIT). They released 30 special edition jars showcasing some of Italy’s most beautiful destinations, including San Nicola Arcella in Calabria!
So, as you can probably guess, I needed one of these for my ever-growing collection. I wasn’t able to find San Nicola Arcella. Instead, I picked up another Italian destination that I find absolutely breathtaking – Lago di Braies. It is located in Northern Italy in Trentino Alto-Adige/South Tyrol. This is one of the many places in Northern Italian I hope to see very soon!
But until we can travel again safely, I’ll admire this jar and manifest a trip to this magnificent place.
Now, let’s get to this year’s recipe!
This year, I decided to go for something quick and easy!
Nutella French Toast Rolls
This recipe takes classic French Toast to a whole new level. A quick and sweet breakfast treat using ingredients you most likely already have at home.
So what are you waiting for? Give this recipe a try!
Here’s what you need:
Ingredients: (for 8 rolls)
Nutella
8 pieces of sliced bread
1 egg
1/4 cup milk
butter (to sautee the rolls)
For the coating:
3 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Here’s what you do:
Take the bread slices and remove the crusts. Then, with a rolling pin, flatten out the sliced bread. Now, spread some Nutella on one side of the bread and roll the slice up tightly.
In a bowl, mix together the sugar and cinnamon. Set this aside as you will need it to coat the rolls once they are cooked.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg and milk. You can also add a little bit of vanilla extract if you’d like.
Coat the rolls in the egg/milk mixture and then sautee the rolls in a shallow pan with melted butter. Once the rolls have a golden brown colour and are slightly crispy on the outside they are ready to be coated in the sugar/cinnamon mixture.
And voila!
These Nutella French Toast Rolls are a sweet treat and will surely become a household favourite!
