Sugar Cookies with Nutella ~ World Nutella Day 2022
It’s World Nutella Day and this year I wanted to spread some love with a special Valentine’s Day-themed treat…Sugar Cookies with Nutella!
Sugar Cookies with Nutella
This sugar cookie recipe is already great on its own, but it becomes that much better with a loving dollop of Nutella. Sugar cookies are really easy to make and everyone loves them!
I had some cute heart-shaped cookie cutters, so I decided to give these cookies an extra Valentine’s Day touch. (Side Note: Do you know the connection between the Calabrian seaside town, Belvedere Marittimo, and Saint Valentine?)
So what better way to share some love than with this delicious sweet sugar cookie recipe?
Here’s what you need:
Ingredients:
300 grams flour
100 grams sugar
100 grams butter
2 eggs
1 vial (2ml) vanilla extract
For the filling and topping:
Nutella
Icing sugar
Here’s what you do:
Sift the flour into a bowl, then add the sugar and softened butter. Combine until the mixture comes together – it will be crumbly.
Now add the eggs one at a time, followed by vanilla extra, and mix until you form a well-combined dough. Shape the dough into a rectangular shape and wrap it in some kitchen plastic wrap. Let the dough rest for a minimum of 30 minutes in the fridge.
Once the pastry dough is ready, it’s time to roll it out to a height of half a centimeter.
Choose the cookie cutter shape you’d like to use and begin cutting out the shapes. In the center of half of the cut-outs, cut out a smaller hole. (I used a heart-shaped cookie set that comes in different sizes)
Place the cut-out biscuits on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and bake at 180 degrees for about 7 – 10 minutes or until they are slightly golden.
Remove from the oven and let them cool.
Once they have cooled, they are ready for assembly. Line the cookies with the hole onto a tray and give them a sprinkling of icing sugar. Now spread Nutella on one whole biscuit and then sandwich it with a second biscuit that has the hole in it.
…and voila!

February 16, 2022 at 12:23 pmBecause it’s not necessary, actually many Italian recipes don’t ask for baking soda.

February 6, 2022 at 12:41 pmGrams is an English measurement that is most commonly used for Italian (and European) recipes. Converting to cups will not be accurate and I can’t guarantee the recipe will work out. This website does conversions https://www.thecalculatorsite.com/cooking/grams-cups.php but again, it won’t be as accurate.
Flour – 2.4 cups (approx 2.5 cups?)
Sugar – 1/5 cup sugar
Butter – 0.44 cups (approx 1/5 cup?)
